"I'm Invisible, I AM Visible" is an acrylic painting on canvas by Justin Wadlington, finished in November 2024. It’s original is 48 x 60 inches, and is surrounded in a sleek modern floating frame. The Black and White frame is also embellished with powerful affirmations,  which encompass the canvas,  adding depth and meaning to the entire piece.

At the core of the painting is a faceless figure in a hoodie, representing the search for self-identity. Instead of a face, the figure’s head is filled with the titles of powerful books like Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, and The Kybalion. These books dive into themes of identity, personal growth, and the bigger mysteries of life.

Right below this figure, there’s a headless man in a straitjacket, standing at the foot of a staircase. This part speaks to the way society can box us in, while the staircase itself represents the climb toward self-discovery and enlightenment.

In the background, you can catch glimpses of books like The 48 Laws of Power and Mastery by Robert Greene, which hint at pursuing knowledge and understanding human nature. The black background surrounds it all, representing the unknown and the subconscious mind.

Wadlington uses these elements to get us thinking about life’s big contrasts—the visible and invisible, the known and the unknown—and the ongoing journey toward understanding ourselves and finding our power.
